Help! I'm writing a novel and I'm having a slight problem. I just found out there's a movie/book similar to it. I've never seen the movie, read about it, or anything. I literally just found out about maybe seven minutes ago? Is it okay to continue writing what I am writing? I really want to, because in all honesty it's not like I'm copying it or anything. This was all my idea. Someone else just had the same...ish.

Adapt the story? There really isn't all that much you can do without restarting in some form. I think it'd be smarter to maybe have the same beginning and maybe foreshadow it goes in the same direction as the movie, but you ad plot twists as to make it new and unique. That would require you to restart to a certain degree, however Like, maybe it ends out the same way, but the story takes twists and turns the movie did not take. What is it about? maybe I can help.

You could also continue, of course, but changing it a little could be an option.

@mattagarrett I haven't written much, but I don't want to change it because I think what I have is a great idea. Also since technically I have never heard about it before or seen it/read it. I shouldn't have to right? I'm can't be copying if I had never heard of it. Have you ever heard of the myth that we only use 10% of our brain? Also I don't think it's too similar. I'm just guessing because I read a three sentence summary.

If you really feel that way then I'd just go ahead and continue then :)

OK. :) Thanks for the advice.:):):) @mattagarrett
