OpenStudy (bibby):

what's the translation for reflecting over the y axis?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@jmanning10 Yes, I'm homeschooled. @bibby I have no idea. :( I'm having a hard time understanding this question.

OpenStudy (bibby):

the translation looks like \((x,y) \longrightarrow (-x,y)\) just flip the x coordinates sign

OpenStudy (anonymous):

k12

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I still don't quite understand.. what do I flip? o:

OpenStudy (bibby):

if our point was (8,5) our image would be at (-8,5) if our points was at (-2,-1) our image'd be at (2,-1)

OpenStudy (bibby):

for the visual, \((x,y) \longrightarrow (-x,y)\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh, alright. :)

OpenStudy (bibby):

so, an y idea what the answer is? :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(6, -4)?

OpenStudy (bibby):

well first, find W. (-6,-4) negative the x (6,-4) NOICE

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So the answer would be (-6, -4) or (6, -4)?

OpenStudy (bibby):

W is (-6,-4) the question asks for W' where W' is the point after reflecting over the y (6,-4) is the point after reflection

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh okay. Thank you! :)

OpenStudy (bibby):

np np :)
