When asked how to create an electromagnet, the best answer would be, "You can create an electromagnet by applying a direct current to a non–magnetic material in order to create an electromagnetic field." covering a wire with insulation and applying a direct electrical current to the magnet." coiling a ferromagnetic material, wrapping in an insulator, and applying a current to the coil." wrapping an insulated wire around a metal with ferromagnetic properties and applying an electric current." @dan815 @Jhannybean

That's a cool concept :)

and thanxx

I'm not really understanding what the question is, exactly.

When discussing the Earth's magnetic field we could say that the Earth has a geomagnetic north pole that is similar to the north pole of a magnet. geomagnetic north pole that is similar to the south pole of a magnet. magnetic core that has a charge similar to the south pole of a magnet. random collection of magnetic poles dispersed in different locations.

OpenStudy (perl):

battery supplies direct current to a wire coiled around the magnet (many times). The wire is insulated so that it does not create a short with the magnet.

OpenStudy (perl):

It is easy to build an electromagnet. All you need to do is wrap some insulated copper wire around an iron core. If you attach a battery to the wire, an electric current will begin to flow and the iron core will become magnetized. When the battery is disconnected, the iron core will lose its magnetism.
