Is this correct ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

looks good exterior = 360/18 = 20 degrees interior = 180 - exterior = 180 - 20 = 160 degrees

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks!

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

you're welcome

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is this correct too? will you help me check my answers on this assignment? @jim_thompson5910

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

both are correct area: A = pi*r^2 --> A = 3.14*4^2 = 50.24 circumference: C = 2*pi*r ---> C = 2*3.14*4 = 25.12

is this correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@jim_thompson5910

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I filled in the triangle and got 8 for the bottom and 7 for the side. I multiplied and got 56 and divided by 2 to get the area of the whole triangle (28) . After I multiplied 2 and 3 and got six. I subtracted 6 from 28 to get 22 for the shaded area. I believe.

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

you nailed the steps and the final answer. Nice job

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yay im finally learning

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

I'm glad you are

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what about this one? I took 64 and multiplied it by 3.14 and divided by two and got 100.48 After I added 100.48 + 100 + 100.48 + 100 and got 400.96 @jim_thompson5910

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

400.96 is correct. You're on a roll

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think you've helped me with this problem before but im kinda confused again

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

notice how points G and F are on the same horizontal line what must the y coordinate of F be?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

T?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

correct, since that is the y coordinate of point G

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

so point F is something of the form (??, t) where the question marks represent the x coordinate. Unknown for now

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

now start at point H and move to point G how many units left did you go? how many units up did you go?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-s to the left?

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

yes, so you'll follow the same pattern you went from H to G to go from E to F so you start at E and go left 's' units, then go up t units to land on F

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

E has u as the x coordinate go left s units to get to u-s then go up to land on (u-s,t)

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

again it's probably easier to replace all the letters with actual numbers

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

|dw:1416899239784:dw|

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

|dw:1416899260302:dw|

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

start at H and go left 's' |dw:1416899305893:dw|

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

go up t units |dw:1416899324563:dw|

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

left s, up t |dw:1416899351442:dw|
