whats the difference between a power and a base?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

like if they told you to write (sqrt16)^2 would it be 2^4?

OpenStudy (inkyvoyd):

I legit read "what's the difference between a power and a bae"

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

\(3^2~~~\rm 3~is~the~base~and~2~is~the~power\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

like if they told you to write in as a single power of 4?

OpenStudy (inkyvoyd):

@ayyookyndall plagiarism is bad. http://www.factmonster.com/ipka/A0875926.html

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

What is the square root of 16?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but isnt that a base?

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

Yes and in \(\sqrt{16}^2\) what is the base and what is the power?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4 and 2

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

Correct now just replace \(\sqrt{16}\) with 4 and leave the 2 as the power.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but lets say the question asks to write it as a single power of 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so would it be 2^4?

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

\(4^2\) is 16 2*2*2*2=4*2*2=8*2=16 so \(4^2~ \rm and~2^4\) are the same thing.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can someone here answer my Question...ill do anything and even answer as many questions as u need

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

Tag me and I will look @ShelbyRenaebb

OpenStudy (aum):

"single power of 4" implies the base is 4. 16 = 4^2
