Can someone watch while I do this? I want to make sure I do it right. Sam stores manure for his farm in a rectangular box. The length of the box is 7 feet, width is 9 inches, and height is 6 inches. Each bag of manure he bought contains 2.625 cubic feet of manure. How many bags of manure will fill the box completely?

OpenStudy (secret-ninja):

7 x 12 = 84, so its 84 inches long, 9 inches wide, and 6 inches high.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sure

OpenStudy (secret-ninja):

2.625 x 12 = 31.5 inches

OpenStudy (secret-ninja):

84 x 9 x 6 = 4536 inches.

OpenStudy (secret-ninja):

4536 divided by 31.5 = 144

OpenStudy (secret-ninja):

So 144 bags of manure?

OpenStudy (some.random.cool.kid):

sounds right

OpenStudy (secret-ninja):

Oh wait, it wants fee, right? so 144 divided by 12 is 12, so 12 bags?

OpenStudy (secret-ninja):

*feet* sorry, typo.

OpenStudy (some.random.cool.kid):

oh yeah theres always those key things we miss

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yup you got it, you converted from ft to inch found the volume and divided it by the vol of the bag and saw how many fit within the volume. gj

OpenStudy (secret-ninja):

OpenStudy (secret-ninja):
