Medal. :) Lisa was trying to park her car. She moved her car forward at a constant velocity for 5 seconds, and then backward at a constant velocity for 10 seconds. She then moved her car forward again at a constant velocity for the next 5 seconds, and then she stopped. Which of the following graphs could represent the motion of Lisa’s car?

So essentialy she moved foward for 10 secodns and moved back for 10 seconds.

@ganeshie8

OpenStudy (secret-ninja):

I guess.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I guess isn't good enough sorry. What's your confusion.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Let's say your at origin (0,0) You take 5 steps in the x direction (5,0) Then 10 steps backwards in the x direction (-5,0) then 5 steps foward again in the x direction (0,0)

OpenStudy (secret-ninja):

If she goes at a constant speed, then the displacement shouldn't be huge, right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Look at what I just posted and see if it makes sense to you.

OpenStudy (secret-ninja):

And if she eventually stops, It has to comedown, right? I guessed A but wasn't sure.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No not necessarily, you speed(how fast she as going) comes to a stop yes. But her position is still her position.

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

stopping your car won't bring you back to home

OpenStudy (secret-ninja):

Oh, I hadn't thought of that >.<

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's weird her displacement should be zero since she practictally retraced her steps.

OpenStudy (secret-ninja):

So it can't be A, meaning its B C or D.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It would make sense for it to be A I can see where you got that there since she moved ackwards the slope should be downward

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Lol didn't see the last posted image there. D would do fine

OpenStudy (secret-ninja):

Thanks. ^-^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The only other one was a downhill slope indicating that you moved backward

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No problem sorry it took a bit longer than intended

OpenStudy (secret-ninja):

Thats okay. :)
