One difference between mitochondria and chloroplasts is

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1) Mitochondria are found in both animal and plant cells, while chloroplasts are only found in plant cells. After all, chloroplasts are one kind of plastid. 2) Mitochondria are said to originate from prokaryotic cells that invaded into a eukaryotic cell. Etc. Etc. 3) Both are organelles, but the other notable difference is that chloroplasts are used in photosynthesis, and mitochondria are used for energy production in cells. There are some others, but this is about all that I can think of right off the bat. Mitochondria also have a structure said to be of a prokaryotic cell, while Chlorplasts contain stacks of thylakoids (pancake-like structures) enclosed in a fluid called stroma.

Hey there! Welcome to openstudy :) Mitochondria synthesizes ATP from stored food like glucose while Chloroplast Synthesizes glucose from the light energy

OpenStudy (abhisar):

@Mesopretty #2 is valid for both mitochondria and chloroplast

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The major difference between mitochondria and chloroplast is that the latter contains thylakoid membranes and pigment molecules, whereas the mitochondria membranes contain respiratory enzymes not found in chloroplast membranes.
