Look at this function: x y –6 –13 –4 –9 –2 –5 0 –1 Mark said that the function is linear. Jason said that the function is nonlinear. Which of the following explains who is correct? (1 point) Mark, because for every 2-unit increase in x, there is an increase in y by 4 Mark, because for every 4-unit increase in x, there is an increase in y by 2 Jason, because the point (0, –1) does not lie on the straight line that contains the other points Jason, because the point (–6, –13) does not lie on the straight line that contains the other points

every increase in 2 in the x, something happens in the y what?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it also increases?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes, by how many each time?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no dear, the x increases by 2 and if you mean the slope is two, you would be right but the y increases by 4, from -13 to -9 is 4 from -9 to *-5 is 4 etc

OpenStudy (anonymous):

go with Mark, because for every 2-unit increase in x, there is an increase in y by 4

oh gotcha!
