how to solve circuit with 3 diodes?

OpenStudy (kenljw):

Basic approximation, assume forward bias VD = .7 V, silicon, .2 V germanium, with zero resistance and diode current ID less then ID maximum, then assume reverse bias infinite resistance with solved reverse bias voltage less than VDR maximum.

actually i want that solution

OpenStudy (kenljw):

The way I see it D3 and D2 place VA at ground level, therefore no current through D1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but if D3 is reversed, then D1 and D2 will be operating.... i think from the 5v source above and the cuurent direction D3 is reversed........

OpenStudy (kenljw):

D3 has -5 V on cathode and ground on anode therefore forward biased. Your saying somehow VB is at a potential more than ground therefore D3 is reversed, which makes the CKT much more difficult to solve. It seems your must use actual diode currents and voltages in analysis rather than any approximation and use nodal analysis.

thank u..... KenLJW
