Which of these ordered pairs is a solution to the inequality 3x + y > – 8 ? (–3, 0) (–2, –1) (0, –10) (2, –16)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, plug in one of the x values in the ordered pair and one of the y values, and solve. Does it make sense with the first one? If not, go onto the second one and do the same thing :)

Nnesha (nnesha):

you can plug x and y value into the equation and if statement make sense then that is your answer

OpenStudy (unanimoose):

3(-3) + 0 > -8 ---> -9 > -8 WRONG 3(-2) + (-1) > -8 ---> -7 > -8 CORRECT 3(0) + (-10) > -8 ---> -10 > -8 WRONG 3(2) + (-16) > -8 ---> -10 > -8 WRONG
