with the set up you gave me i got 3600? idk if thats correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Take the derivative of this with respect to time. Remember the product rule 2*dc/dt = 2*da/dt*a + 2*db/dt*b a is the distance that the ship traveled in four hours plus the initial 40 knot offset a = 40+16*4 b is the distance that the ship traveled in four house b = 17*4 therefore, dc/dt = (16)*(40+16*4) + (17)*(17*4)

the answer is gave me was 2820

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is that correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the website that im submitting my answer on is telling me that its incorrect

well drawing a diagram is always a good start |dw:1417323521421:dw| you need to find the hypotenuse of C the side for ship A is a = 16 x 4 + 40 the side for ship B is b = 17 x 4 calculate those 1st then use pythagoras' theorem to find c hope it makes sense
