Last semester, a certain professor gave 21 As out of 207 grades. If one of the professor's students from last semester were selected randomly, what is the probability that student received an A? (Assume that each student receives one grade.)

OpenStudy (swissgirl):

probability that will get an A is 21/207

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so do I divide 21/207 to get my answer

OpenStudy (swissgirl):

yup yup

OpenStudy (swissgirl):

@dan815 am I correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got an answer of .1014492754 is that my answer

OpenStudy (swissgirl):

ya round it to the amount of places that your book/teacher asks you to

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what do you mean I do not understand

OpenStudy (swissgirl):

umm like yamaybe you gotta round it to the tenths place so its .1 Or maybe to the thousanths place so its .101

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so you think that answer is .101 you mean

OpenStudy (swissgirl):

well does your question specify how many places you should round your answer to? Maybe it wants you to keep it in a fraction

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no all it says is this Give the probability in decimal form (correct to two decimal places). A calculator may be helpful. Last semester, a certain professor gave 21 As out of 207 grades. If one of the professor's students from last semester were selected randomly, what is the probability that student received an A? (Assume that each student receives one grade.)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that is the entire question

OpenStudy (swissgirl):

ohhh 2 decimal places so it would be .10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so is that answer just .10

OpenStudy (swissgirl):

yup yup

OpenStudy (anonymous):

great thanks
