Why do plant cells need both chloroplasts and mitochondria?

OpenStudy (nerdgirl6):

Because the mitochondria allows the cell to perform respiration, whereas the chloroplast allows the cell to perform photosynthesis. Respiration (in the mitochondria) allows the cell to break down the glucose, produced by photosynthesis (in the chloroplast) into energy. So basically, the energy created by chloroplast can only be released by the energy from the mitochondria. Does this help?
