Which part of the eukaryotic cell is where sugar is broken down into energy? A. ribosome B. cytoplasm C. mitochondria D. nucleus
@kittycat123
@sleepyjess
HELLO ANYONE!
In the cytoplasm just outside the mitochondria, glucose is broken down into smaller molecules through a process called glycolysis (literally "sugar breaking"), which releases chemical energy. This energy is temporarily captured by specialized molecules and transported through the mitochondrial membranes into the mitochondria. There it is used to make an important molecule called adenosine triphosphate (ATP) through a process known as cellular respiration. from http://www.shmoop.com/biology-cells/most-eukaryotic-cells.html
thanks
You may get more of a response if you ask more questions in the box that says "Ask a question..." instead of putting them all here.
