Find the multiplicative inverse of 6 + 2i. 6 - 2i

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

A short review. A multiplicative inverse of any number V (whether it contains any variables or not. And not including 0, since it never becomes 1, no matter what you multiply it by, and not including 1,) is 1/V. If it is -V though, it will be -1/V. For example, for "4" a multiplicative inverse is 1/4. Because 1/4 * 4 = 1 For -3/4 it is -4/3 because (-3/4) * (-4/3) = 1 If it is a+bi then the inverse would simply be 1/(a+bi) if you number is ai+b, then inverse would be 1/(ai+b) for ai-b it is, 1/(ai-b).

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

6-2i, is a conjugate for 6+2i, but it is NOT it's multiplicative inverse.
