will medal and fan for help
26% of what number is 39???????
No need for medal or fans. \(\large\color{black}{ 26\text{%} }\) is same as multiplying times \(\large\color{black}{ 0.26 }\). So if you want to find (for instance) \(\large\color{black}{ 40\text{%} }\) of what number is \(\large\color{black}{ 50 }\)? then you would do, this: \(\large\color{black}{ 40\text{%} ~~~of~~x=50 }\) \(\large\color{black}{ 0.40x=50 }\) \(\large\color{black}{ x=125 }\)
So 40% of \(\large\color{black}{ \underline{125} }\) is 50.
thank you so much
Do a similar thing for your problem:) Tell me if tyou need more help.
i am stuck @SolomonZelman
I'll set the equation up for you. \(\large\color{black}{ 26\text{%}~~~of~~~x~~=~39 }\)
then, say, \(\large\color{black}{ 0.26x~~=~39 }\) and solve for x.
26%=0.26
if you are still struggling let me know.
yes, you are correct 0.26=26%, so when we say 26% of x, we are as if multiplying x times 0.26.
i got the answer thanks so much @SolomonZelman
what do you get? (what to verify, if you don't mind)
i got 150
using n not x
Yes, 150 is right. And doesn't matter which variable you use n, or x... it is all same.
oh ok thanks so much for your help
