I need to write an equation in slope-intercept form of the line that passes through the given point and is perpendicular to the graph of the equation. (5,0) ; y+1=2(x-3). Can anyone help? please!

OpenStudy (nerdgirl6):

Hello! I can help you (although this might be better suited for one of the math subjects!) First you will have to convert that equation into slope intercept form. Do you know how to do that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

slope intercept form is just y=mx+b so I suggest coin this to start:|dw:1417475219387:dw|

@nerdgirl6 correct me if I'm wrong but after this can't you just use the point they gave you and the y-intercept and use the equation (y1-y2)/(x1-x2)?

OpenStudy (nerdgirl6):

@tayromo do you mean that would allow you to find the equation of the perpendicular? You might be able to do it that way, but I'm not sure if I'm thinking of what you are saying the right way what exactly do you mean?
