Is there anyone who have ever read the book of martyr? I need a help!!!
Let's see what I can help you with. I vaguely remember it, though, so bear with me. What do you need?
first one is How does Foxe turn these individuals (martyrs) into heros? and what rhetorical devices does he employ? and How are illustraions incorporated into the text? what techniques do the artists use to transform the victims of these executions into heros?
Well, simply put, Fox marked the Catholic Church as abusive, and portrayed the Protestants as Martyrs. The very definition of a martyr is someone who is willing to die for a cause they believed in. So, Fox wrote the Protestant martyrs as underdogs who sacrificed themselves for their beliefs.
I don't remember the imagery, so give me a second to look it up.
Let's see....Burning people, whippings, other forms of punishment/torture.... So, it's pretty clear that the art is meant to further illustrate the idea that the Catholic Church was basically a bully.
AWW it make sense!! i got that! and i want to know how does he turns them into hero
In the end, though, everything is simply used to further the point that these martyrs (people who are willing to sacrifice for what they believe in), are undergoing major torture as they stand up to the bully Church. In stories where an underdog rises against a bully, I think it's safe to assume that the underdog is the hero. That's what we, as social humans, naturally think. Therefore, by showing how brave and heroic these people are, and how much torture they're going through, they're being painted as heroic martyrs. Does that help?
(I just noticed I misspelled "Foxe" the entire time. Whoops.)
Haha that's fine :) it's very nice of u!! u r such a my life saver.. i was going to give up this homework.. thank you very much!!:)
