1. The table below shows the values of y for each value of x. X Y -1 0 1 -1 2 1 2 -2 Part A: Does the table represent a function? Justify your answer by using the values shown in the table (4 points) Part B: The function f(x) shown below represents the number of fieldgoals Frank made at different distances, x, in meters, from the post. F(x) = -x + 8 Calculate and interpret the meaning for f(5). (4 points) Part C: Write an ordered pair to represent the input and output of the function in Part B when Frank is at a distance of p meters from the post. (2 points)

Part A: Is the table a function? Justify your answer- use specific values in your answer. Part B: Calculate f(5). What does f(5) mean? Part C: X represents meters from the post. If we replace x with p, what is the y-coordinate? Write your ordered pair below: (p, )

Help @mathcouldbefun

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

it is a piece wise.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Could you help @No.name or @KamiBug or @ SolomonZelman or @codyautrey9 or @MARC_

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or @Kit_Kat_Nat_<3

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

A FUNCTION can not have more that one output (y-value) per 2 different inputs (x-values). BUT, A FUNCTION COULD HAVE 2 inputs per 1 output.

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

SO I don't see any reason for your equation not to be a function.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Could you explain that just a LITTLE more

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Anyone please help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Every x value can only have one y value. Therefore, it is a function

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok is that Part A wat about Part B and C

OpenStudy (anonymous):

f(5) just means you insert 5 for every x. So, if the equation is: f(5) = -(5) + 8, the answer would equal 3.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thank you could you help me on Part C @codyautrey9

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@SolomonZelman could you help please on Part C i will give Medal

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

For part C, you want to find the ordered pair when x=5, with f(5) ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

IDK That is why i asked you the GENIUS :):)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Not quite sure how to find Part C..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its okay @codyautrey9

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

well, if you have f(5)=something, then the ordered pair is (something,f(5)) in your case the ordered pair is (5,f(5)), but instead of f(5) you need to plug in the actual value of it (of f(5) ).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanku guyssss SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Much I love u guys Muah!!!!

OpenStudy (solomonzelman):

yw

Muah :)
