which number is a solution of the inequality? g+3>6 ( 1point ) A. 3 B.4 C.-3 D.-4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@uri

OpenStudy (uri):

subract 3 from both sides

OpenStudy (uri):

g+3>6 -3 -3 g>3

@k_lynn

OpenStudy (k_lynn):

ok so we know that g+3 has to be greater than 6, so the answer should at least be 7 or higher. If you add \[3+3\] what do you get?

OpenStudy (k_lynn):

You should get 6. and \[6=6\] so 6 cannot be greater than itself. So we now know that A is not the correct option.

OpenStudy (k_lynn):

Now to option B. When you add \[3+4\] what do you get?

OpenStudy (uri):

What are you trying to do? @k_lynn

OpenStudy (k_lynn):

@uri I'm trying to eliminate all of the other options so that we find one that fits.

OpenStudy (k_lynn):

I find it easier to understand if you use the options to find the answer.

OpenStudy (uri):

This is simple. g+3>6 g>6-3 g>3

OpenStudy (k_lynn):

I know, but I'm not sure @transgenderwoman understands that...she's not saying anything. Do you understand? @transgenderwoman

OpenStudy (k_lynn):

I don't think g can be 3. Saying out the problem would look something like this > g plus three is greater than 6. THere is no |dw:1417545052560:dw| symbol. I think that g+3 has to equal 7 or higher.

OpenStudy (k_lynn):

do you understand any better @transgenderwoman

kinda so what is >?
