help with quadratic function What is the quadratic function that is created with roots -10 and -6 and a vertex at (-8, -8)? steps- y = a (x + 10) (x + 6) -8 = a (-8 + 10) (-8 + 6) a = 2 is this my final answer or do i need to do more?

Please don't tag the world. We call that spam around here. You have selected 'a' so that (-8,-8) is ON the parabola. Have you proven that (-8,-8) is the Vertex?
-8, -8 is the vertex, yes and i wasnt trying to tag the world, i tagged some people and 20 minutes later when no one responded i tagged a few more. i dont think that was unnecessarily asking for help
Don't defend your position. This is how I count count such tagging, 1, 2, The World. Don't do it. You SAY it is the Vertex. Did you PROVE it?
do i need to preove it? the question says it is, therefore it is. and i will too defend my position, i was asking for help, whats so wrong with that? when no one helped, i asked for more help. thats not spam.
You are not on the same page with the definition of spam. Spam is not what YOU think it is. Spam is what OpenStudy thinks it is. Please abandon your definition in favor of OpenStudy's and we'll get along just fine. You were not given the equation and told that (-8,-8) was the vertex. You were asked to create an equation where (-8,-8) is the vertex. You may not assume it is where you would like it to be. You must PROVE it. Transform your equation to Vertex Form. That should do it.
mid point of (-10,0) and (-6,0) is (-8,0)
Since the roots are at (-10,0) and ( -6,0), the parabola vertex is on line x=-8.
So your method is right if you add the above argument to it. Find a so when x=-8, then y is also -8.
Now, your answer is justified
@tkhunny last time i checked you may be a mod of openstudy, but that does not make you yourself OS. please tell me where it says that tagging people for help is spam, and then i might view things differently.
@kah.x Okay, here's the deal. OpenStudy runs with volunteers. Volunteers are special, helpful people whose only purpose, generally, is to be as helpful as possible to as many as possible. Making themselves available to help YOU suggests a level of altruism and social value. They all do it without complaint and generally gain some joy from the service they provide. When a volunteer is online, and attempting to help someone, a "tag" in a new post actually interrupts the help the volunteer is trying to give to someone else. Thus, tagging one or two familiar volunteers might seem reasonable. Deliberately interrupting eleven (11) different experienced and seasoned volunteers suggests that YOUR time is far more valuable than the time of anyone else who might be receiving help at that moment. This is at least rude, if not significantly arrogant. As far as the Written "Code of Conduct" goes: 1) Rule #1 is to "Be Nice". When you interrupt 11 other people, that is not nice. 2) Rule #3 suggests gratitude. Perhaps you do not consider just being here an act of helping you, personally. You should broaden that definition. 3) In this particular post, you copied and pasted someone else's work. This is not acceptable. 4) You posted the same question multiple times. This is not acceptable. 5) Finally, you are encouraged to be polite and listen when moderators contact you. You have only argued with me. That would be a violation of the Code of Conduct. Supplement) The Code of Conduct suggests "Common Forms of Spam". It is not intended to be an exhaustive list. Thus, when a Mod tells you that you are spamming, and it doesn't seem to fit one of the provided definitions, this is of no consequence. consider the advice and learn from it. To sum up, there is nothing wrong with "tagging people for help". There is something wrong with assuming that your time is more valuable than anyone else's. So, please work on those five specific violations of the Code of Conduct and I think we'll get along just fine. I look forward to helping you in the future, should the occasion arise.
@tkhunny 1) i never once suggested my time was more important than someone elses. it does not interrupt another person or what they're doing, it merely gives them a notification that they can choose to view if they would like and when they would like. dont put words in my mouth that i never said. 2) be nice? how was i being rude. you have a messed up sense of that word, because you obviously dont know what it means. 3) if you havent noticed, i am here mostly to help others, with a need for occasional help, im not some selfish person that expects everyone to do everything for me. yes, i do want help, but that is not the primary reason im on this site. 4) copied and pasted? 5) yes i posted the same question because i had accidentaly closed the previous one. and how is that even considered spamming? one question was deleted, while one was added. that is not adding any additional questions. 6) i am being very polite. having a civilized conversation with someone is not called being rude, its called being and acting maturely. 7) its great that mods should be treated to respect. but people that say that annoy me just as much as the people that say you should respect your parents. why cant you respect everyone? why is it more justified to respect your parents than your classmates? thus, why is respecting mods any more important than respecting all of the other members? therefore, why is you calling me arrogant and rude okay, while me trying to discuss something with you is not because you think im incorrect? to "sum it up" you are speaking down to me and being very condescending, and i do not appreciate it. dont treat me like im less than you because youre a mod and im not. end of story.
You're just not listening. You could. Have a good day.
