What was the cause of the ferch and indian war
In mid 1700s the French and British settled in the same place. The British sent George Washington to tell the French to get off their land. This led to a disagreement and fighting in Fort Necessity.
The French and Indian war is what Americans call the North American theater of the Seven Years War between France and Britain. The French and brits were constantly fighting for world supremacy about this time. The flash point of this war was in the Ohio River valley. Specifically the point where the Monongahela and the Allegheny rivers meet to become the Ohio. (modern Pittsburgh) The French built a fort in the area. The brits sent young Colonel George Washington to check things out. Washington attacked a French patrol. The French came back and made him surrender his little fort he had built. When the British back in the colonies got word, they sent a much larger force to take care of things. The French abandoned their fort because the British force totally outnumbered them. Washington got back to Mt Vernon and retired from the British Army and went back to farming. The Brits and French kept fighting for 7 years.
