OpenStudy (adamaero):

x = 1 + 2y^2

OpenStudy (adamaero):

for the equation (2pi)integral(?*sqrt(1+(derivative)) ? = y or ? = x when rotating about the x-axis?

OpenStudy (adamaero):

at first I did \[\sqrt{\frac{ x-1 }{ 2 }} = y\] because I thought that would be the "?" Am I wrong, is that actually for rotating about the y-axis?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What are you supposed to do?

OpenStudy (adamaero):

find the surface area by rotating the curve about the x-axis

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[ x=1+2y^2 \]Is only one of the boundaries. What are the other boundaries?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I assume \(y=0\) is a boundary as well.

OpenStudy (adamaero):

I know how to solve, I am just asking what I put in for "?"

OpenStudy (adamaero):

you do not need the bounds for MY question

OpenStudy (adamaero):

I am not asking for you to solve anything

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If there is no upper boundary for x, then the answer is infinity.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You just want an anti derivative?

OpenStudy (adamaero):

like I said, there is bounds but it is irrelevant to my question no! wio I don't think you know what I'm asking or how to set up this problem
