WILL MEDAL!!!! Which of the following must happen before the cell can go through mitosis? A. The cytoplasm must divide. B. The cell must copy its DNA. C. The spindle fibers must break down. D. The sister chromatids must separate.

@sammixboo

OpenStudy (12man):

Before the Mitosis can begin, there are several things that must happen to a cell. First of all, the cell must be first be grown to twice the regular size. Once that's done, it moves on and copies all the chromosomes so they can be pulled apart and be even in both cells. Then the cell replicates all of its organelles, so each of the daughter cells will be sufficient in organelles. Now, it is ready to go into prophase, which is the first stage in mitosis, the chromosomes must be duplicated.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it makes double of everything?

OpenStudy (12man):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thanks!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

dose that mean its b?

OpenStudy (ageta):

it is B

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks to both of you i wish i could give two medals

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but im afraid sense i can give only one it goes to 12man

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for helping me under stand

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but you are both awesome

OpenStudy (12man):

tnxs

OpenStudy (ageta):

thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you guys help me with some more?

OpenStudy (ageta):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Which of the following is an example of cell division at work? A. A dog digests food. B. A plant dies. C. A tree grows taller. D. A muscle contracts. i really think its c but i want to be sure

OpenStudy (ageta):

actually it is D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh really?

OpenStudy (ageta):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because there dividing right?

OpenStudy (ageta):

decrease in size, number, or range.

OpenStudy (ageta):

and yes dividing

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but when you or me grow our cells divide

OpenStudy (ageta):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and it says "cell division

OpenStudy (anonymous):

which means cells are dividing

OpenStudy (ageta):

when cell divide it contracts

OpenStudy (ageta):

it means decrease in size, number, or range.

OpenStudy (ageta):

it cant be C because it is not dividing.

OpenStudy (12man):

i think it is D too.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

welp, two agenst one

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thx

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i would've gotten it wrong

OpenStudy (ageta):

u welcome

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you help me with another?

OpenStudy (12man):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Which of the following happens during prophase? A. The cell cytoplasm divides. B. The nuclear membrane breaks down. C. The chromatids attach to the spindle. D. The sister chromatids are pulled apart.

OpenStudy (ageta):

Prophase I: Crossing over - The homologous chromosomes form synapses and exchange small regions of DNA. This adds to genetic diversity. Metaphase I: Independent assortment - The chromosomes arrange themselves independently and randomly at the equator of the cell.

OpenStudy (ageta):

it is A

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok XD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol thx

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have one more

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (ageta):

E,C,A,D,B

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but thats all of them

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh right XD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

BRB

OpenStudy (ageta):

bye

OpenStudy (anonymous):

BAck

OpenStudy (anonymous):
