Valley Forge was important because that's were George Washington took the continental army for winter. They experienced brutal weather. Valley Forge was where General George Washington and the Continental Army settled down for winter. Back then, winter was sort of a break for armies. Both the United States and Britain stopped fighting for the winter. At Valley Forge, most soldiers lacked shirts, shoes, and blankets. It was the coldest winter they had ever faced. Because blood left tracks in the snow, and they didn't want to be followed by the British army, many wore moccasins on there feet, even though they hurt terribly. Food was in short supply, but the soldiers kept marching on only because of George Washington's spirit. The Patriots would not have one the Revolutionary War if not for their spirit and belief in independence, shown here at Vally Forge.
