PLEASE HEP ME Mike's Bike Shop needs to purchase some supplies. He needs 5 tires which cost $5 each and several water bottle holders which cost $2 each. He does not want to spend more than $399 for the 5 tires and the bottle holders. Which of the following inequalities could be used to solve for w, the number of water bottle holders he can order? $7w < $399 $25 + $7w < $399 $25 + $2w < $399 $5 + w < $399

try to start it show the work you've done so we can guide you that way you'll learn and not post so many similar Qs

ok one sec

OpenStudy (anonymous):

C or D

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

Well, the max amount of money that he can spend is $399. 5 tires is $25, and each bottle cost $2. $25 + $2w < $399 ^ the amount of bottles times 2, plus the 25 can't get pass 399. This inequality shows that. Got it?

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

D is wrong.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

C <

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

the w implies that a bottle is only $1 and the 5 tires are just $5, that is not true.

OpenStudy (quin100):

can you draw it out so i can see where you are stuck at?

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

for d

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

So yeah, it's c, but you understand why, right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i will post more one sec

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i dont really know obviously

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

Well what you drew doesn't really help you.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

^^ yea...

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

Main idea here is that the total $ he can spend is 399

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

That's automatically <399 for the 2nd part

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

he already has the info of 5 tires and $5 each. that's a fixed $25, no change for the tires or any variables

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

bottles are $2 each but he doesn't know how many so that's $2w

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

Put it all together and it's a straight foward 25+2w<399

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

More sense?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh i get it im so *clueless* but thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i get it

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

Can I ask by any chance how many total questions you have? It's more efficient to take them slower and understand then barge then all through one night. Is this due tomorrow or something?

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

*them

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no you know what im done every gets a little mad or tired of my questions so im done i guess

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

No, keep going if you think it helps you. I'm just trying to help you study for efficiently. I know your trying.
