1. The gods were believed to be the reasoning behind everything that was part of their lives. This included nature and practices 2. An example of variation among belief systems is Greek and Roman mythology. These two mythologies have the same gods and goddesses, but the Greek gods were not as war hungry as Roman gods. Depending on the belief system, the gods could be malicious or helpful. 3. All gods and goddesses have some attribute of life that they are in charge of. This could be the skies, oceans, sun, moon, seasons and many other things. When it comes to monotheism, there is one god that does everything. All gods have a purpose though. 4. Mythological beliefs gave rise to cathedrals, rituals, traditions, sacrifices and other parts of life that would not have existed without mythology. Mythology also attributes to the enforcement of laws because the citizens were scared that if they broke laws, they would be punished 5. With this one, I think you're talking about buildings. Mythology inspired the creation of churches, political structures, shrines, and acropolises that were regular in everyday life. Cities were even created like Alexandria to hold mythologies and education.

Do you think you can possibly help me with these, too? 1. All the societies discussed in this unit had public places of worship for their mythological gods and goddesses, such as the Greek temples and Aztec pyramids. Why do you think these were important to these civilizations? 2. Why do you think the Aztecs and Greeks both used games to honor their gods? 3. Many of these mythological stories were filled with violence. Why do you think this is? 4. For many of these myths and legends, we only have one or two sources left from ancient times. Without them these ancient myths and legends would be gone forever. Why is it extremely important that we preserve the stories of our past? 5. The mythological gods and goddesses often behaved very similarly to humans. They got jealous, they argued, they fought and even interfered in the lives of mortals. Why do you think they were portrayed in such a way?
