@freckles

OpenStudy (shaleiah):

is this the inequality equation 3r+24 <= 100?

OpenStudy (freckles):

that sounds good because 1 rewarding we have 3+the already 24 2 rewardings we have 6+the already 24 3r+24 looks good now they need a 100 or more the have that party right? so correct me if I'm wrong shouldn't the inequality be 3r+24>=100

OpenStudy (shaleiah):

yes that makes sense

OpenStudy (freckles):

so the next equation if we want a single party then 3r+24=100 if we wanted two parties we would have 3r+24=200 if we wanted three parties we would have 3r+24=300

OpenStudy (freckles):

and by the way it is only asking for a single party not more

OpenStudy (freckles):

so 3r+24=100 means r=?

OpenStudy (freckles):

you are going to have to round that r to a certain whole number

OpenStudy (freckles):

since it says whole number of times

OpenStudy (freckles):

well 3r=76 and r=?

OpenStudy (shaleiah):

3

OpenStudy (freckles):

3r=76 to solve for r you to divide both sides by 3

OpenStudy (freckles):

r=76/3 approximately 25.333 what whole number do you think we need to round this to? remember we want to find the whole number of times of rewardings so that we can get a total of 100 to have a single party

OpenStudy (freckles):

you have really only two choices do we need 25 rewardings or 26 rewardings to get the min of 100 marbles to have the single party?

OpenStudy (freckles):

let's think about it if r=25 then 3(25)+24=?

OpenStudy (shaleiah):

99

OpenStudy (freckles):

is 99 enough?

OpenStudy (shaleiah):

no

OpenStudy (freckles):

so it looks like we need r to be 26 we might have a little more than 100 but we will have at least 100

OpenStudy (freckles):

if r=26, then 3(26)+24=78+24=102

OpenStudy (freckles):

102 is a little more than enough right?

OpenStudy (shaleiah):

yes

OpenStudy (freckles):

but the class will have to be rewarded 26 times to even reach the 100 or more marker

OpenStudy (freckles):

does that make sense?

OpenStudy (shaleiah):

yes

OpenStudy (freckles):

do you have any questions?

OpenStudy (shaleiah):

not now, thank you :)
