PLEASE HELP. EXPLAIN STEP-BY-STEP. WILL GIVE MEDAL. A customer went to a garden shop and bought some potting soil for $11.50 and 9 shrubs. The total bill was $94.75. Write and solve an equation to find the price of each shrub.

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

Any ideas?

OpenStudy (nirmalnema):

let the price of 1 shrub be x so 94.75= cost of soil + 9 shurbs 94.75=11.50+9x 9x=83.25 x=9.25 which is the price of each shurb

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@skullpatrol Not in the slightest..I'm literally so lost. Oh, I might wanna add the possible answers. I don't know where to even begin.

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

@nirmalnema has given you the answer, is there anything you don't understand there @brandonfrabel ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, the answers that are available to me aren't in the same format..So I'm kinda confused.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh wait..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh, I got it! Nevermind! But I do have eight other questions I will probably need help on, haha.

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok I'm totally lost with this. It looks like gibberish to me. Math has always been my VERY weak point.

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

Any ideas?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ummm..Well, I think that I'm supposed to explain why steps b and d are correct..so I guess I'll take a shot. For Step B, I feel like it is correct because seven was subtracted from both sides. And I think that's what they were supposed to do.

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

Yes, you are correct.

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

That is called the subtraction property of equality.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Alright, so, then I'ma take a shot at why Step D is correct. For Step D...Didn't they take the two from y/2 and put it on both sides, the same way they did in Step B?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh. Let me write that down, haha. Subtraction Property Of Equality. So Step D would be the..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Alright.. Step B: Subtraction Property Of Equality. Step D: Multiplication Property Of Equality?

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

Correct :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh my gosh, yay :D

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

Whatever you do to one side you can do to the other, to keep it balanced. GREAT work!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This question kinda screwed me up..Not sure what to make of it..Of course. Because math is so confuzzling to me lol. Oh, thank you :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know that it will be two weeks to start with because that's how long it will take to pay his sister..But then I'm not sure how to figure out the rest of the amount of weeks. Wouldn't I just add 45 until I reached 500?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think that I got 11 weeks..Or 13..I'm not sure. Let me recount haha.

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

$$585\div 45=13 \text{ weeks}$$

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh, so I was kind of right haha.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh wait but the amount is 500 not 585

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Or does that matter? Is it still 585 because that's the closest thing?

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

bike + loan = 585

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

pay check = $45/week

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

$$\frac{585}{45}=\text{weeks needed}$$

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohhhhhh

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

The number of times 45 goes into 585 tells you how many weeks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah, I got that now, thank you :) :D This problem doe..It's a monster..
