I'm down to help, what do you need?

What do you think the first step is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have absolutely no idea

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's asking what equation would be used to find rectangle's dimensions, right?

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

Algebra is the first math course where you have to learn how to find your own way of becoming "unlost" :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Unfortunately I've been "lost" my entire life, haha.

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

Look for things you recognize and are familiar to you please.

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

We did two rectangle perimeter questions yesterday, remember?

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

Draw a diagram and try to match the symbols in the diagram to the words in the problem. This is an important skill to learn and get good at in all of mathematics.

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

One last hint before I give you the answer: recall the perimeter of a general rectangle, P = 2w + 2l. Where w =width of rectangle and l = length of rectangle

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

The answer is D. Compare the equation to the words in the problem, do they all match?

OpenStudy (skullpatrol):

65 = 2l + 2w And l = 3w + 8
