OpenStudy (mathmate):

Do you mean \(y=\frac{x}{3}-2\)? Hint: For an equation of a line y=ax+b, a is the slope, b is the y-intercept. Since the y-intercept of all 4 graphs are different, it would be relatively simple to locate your answer where b=2, and double check with the slope a=1/3.

OpenStudy (twizttiez):

@Algorithmic do you understand this?

OpenStudy (twizttiez):

@Lyrae

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you remember, what I told you yesterday? You can apply the same concept here.

OpenStudy (twizttiez):

Well i think it would be A looking at how it crosses through the y intecept

OpenStudy (twizttiez):

Is that wrong?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Close, but that is incorrect. Remember, rise over run?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You rise up by one, and run by three.

OpenStudy (twizttiez):

Yeah ok i see is it B?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No, B cannot be it remember it has a y-intercept of \(-2\).

OpenStudy (twizttiez):

Ok sorry lemme look 1 more time

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No worries. Take your time.

OpenStudy (twizttiez):

I think it would be C mainly because it goes through a positive 2 unlike D which goes through a negative 2

OpenStudy (twizttiez):

And if you look at the rise and run they are both equal

OpenStudy (twizttiez):

Am i right???

OpenStudy (twizttiez):

o_O

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You want it to go through \(-2\) as that is your y-intercept.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@mathmate b should be -2

OpenStudy (twizttiez):

Oh ok that made me look stupid :/ sorry so D is the answer could you help on a couple more?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

find x-intercept and you are done

OpenStudy (twizttiez):

@Algorithmic are you busy?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes. Sure, post a new question and tag me.

OpenStudy (twizttiez):

I can let you be if you need

OpenStudy (twizttiez):

Ok then thanks

OpenStudy (mathmate):

@algorithmic thanks, that was an oversight! b= -2 it is.
