for what purpose did the british paliament pass the sugar act? to force the colonists to register their names to raise money to pay britian's war debt to ensure that goods were purchased from english merchants to punish the colonists for the boston tea party
@katkipe
The Sugar Act, also known as the American Revenue Act or the American Duties Act, was a revenue-raising act passed by the Parliament of Great Britain on April 5, 1764. The plantain to the act stated: "it is expedient that new provisions and regulations should be established for improving the revenue of this Kingdom ... and ... it is just and necessary that a revenue should be raised ... for defraying the expenses of defending, platooning, and securing the same." The earlier Molasses Act of 1733, which had imposed a tax of six pence per gallon of molasses, had never been effectively collected due to colonial evasion. By reducing the rate by half and increasing measures to enforce the tax, the British hoped that the tax would actually be collected. These incidents increased the colonists' concerns about the intent of the British Parliament and helped the growing movement that became the American Revolution. Hope this helped. :)
@Joel_the_boss so what is the anser
what is your guess?
i dont know reaally a or c
The British parliament passed the Sugar Act and the Stamp Act because the British owed money to those who helped them win the French and Indian War.
to raise money to pay britian's war debt? is that the answer then
I do believe :)
Well not quite either of the two. After the 7 year war they went broke, so they need to build there economy back up, so instead of bowering money they just put taxes on everything. So yes to raise money.
