Lets try to solve it together, we're solving -x/6 - 3 = -9 for x. First thing to do is get rid of the (-3) to let x alone in one side, how can we do that ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You uhhh subtract the three on both sides? Sorry not great with math

OpenStudy (math&ing001):

If we subtract three we'll get -x/6 -3-3 = -9-3 -x/6 -6 = -12 That's not what we're looking for.

Then what should we do?

OpenStudy (math&ing001):

Well look for a number that you can add to -3 that gives you 0 as a result: -3 + number =0
