I like solving these problems by changing the largest number, which would be 19, to a negative. We can do this because we know that the answer will be negative anyways, because 19 does not go into 3. So -19 plus a positive 3 is like subtracting 19 and three. Which would be 16. But you have to remember the negative sign. So your answer would be -16. Does that help you, @KattZuma ?
