2(5x-25)=10(x-5) Okay.. so solving this, i got 5 as my answer.. but! My homework is multiple choice and 5 isn't an option.. so I'm not sure if i did it right? My answer choices are, A. 1 B. 0 C. no solution D. All real numbers

OpenStudy (kobeni-chan):

you're solving for x, right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes. :p

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2(5x-25) = 10x-50 10(x-5) = 10x-50 they are the same, so do you know the answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

useless hint: (it'a not 0 :P)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the question is, how did you get 5?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

*well, it kind of isn't 0 (I should say)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I honestly have no idea.. I would have to go back through the way I did it again.. lol So now we're with no solution or 1, it's obviously not all real numbers.. or kind of isn't 0. lol So would it be.. no solution?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If it was no solution, you would end up with something like this: 10x = 9x, so we know it's not that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh my goodness, these are so confusing to me! lol /:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If the answer was x=1, then x=2 or x=3 would not be true. Is it? (If you let x=2 or 3, are both sides the same?

Nnesha (nnesha):

10x = 9x we have solution for this one subtract 9x both side x = 0 ??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry, there is something wrong with my browser

Nnesha (nnesha):

seem like you are struggling with distribution kinda thingy so just plug so first of all check 1 by plugging back into the equation where x is

OpenStudy (anonymous):

*and yes, that was my mistake, I ment it to be something like 2=3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

anyways, if you let x=0, 1, 2, or 100...are both sides the same?

Nnesha (nnesha):

|dw:1417844255010:dw| now solve let me know if both side are equal or not ???
