graph y=3x - 8
Do you know how to start this?
do you know how to find the x and y intercepts ?
Nope
The slope intercept form of an equation is y=mx+b where m is the slope and b is the y intercept.
remember that that the end piece will always be the slope. so for example in y=3x-8 your slope will be -8 so you would put that one the point of the graph and go up 3 and over right 1. since its just 3x itll be 3 and to the right 1 since its positive
Umm okay
do you get what im saying or no? @pinkylee
No
In y = mx + b form, the number in the m position is the slope and the number in the b position is the y intercept. So the slope(m) is 3 The y intercept is -8...or (0,-8) The x intercept can be found by subbing in 0 for y and solving for x y = 3x - 8 0 = 3x - 8 -3x = -8 x = 8/3....so your x intercept is (8/3,0)...for graphing purposes, 8/3 = 2 2/3 so graph your points (0,-8) and (8/3,0) now take your y int (0,-8)....and since the slope is 3, go up 3 and to the right 1 and up 3, and to the right 1...and you should cross the x axis at (8/3,0)
Thank u and I do
do you have to graph it right so y = mx + b like other people says m is slope always with x and b is y-intercept to graph it always start with y-intercept and y-intercept always on y -axis so draw point at -8 on y-axis then slope rise/run your slope is 3/1 and becasue its positive so go up 3 step and then run 1 on right side
okay so does that mean the ordered pair is (0,-8)?
when you draw anything on y-axis x must be 0 :)
okay so was i right or wrong????
yes (0 , -8) is a orderpari
(0 ,8) is a y-intercept there is another order pair like texaschic101 already told you x-intercept ( 8/3 , 0) so this is another pair
ohhhhhhhhhh okay now i understand
:) yep thats good :)
thank u :)
\(\color{blue}{my :) pleasure :) }\)
No one even gave you the graph... https://www.desmos.com/calculator/p0jtp374fw
@thesmartone its okay
lol
but thank for it @thesmartone
No prob;em :)
problem*
yea guess so may i ask another question?
yes sure
what would be the order pair for y=-5x +19?
what is y-intercept ???
the what?
y-intercept remember this equation y = mx + b here b is y-intercept
