The step response of a circuit is its response to a step input, u(t). Knowing the step response of a linear circuit is extremely valuable as we can figure out the circuit's stability. In this problem you will find the response of two circuits when it is driven by a step response. First we look at the circuit in Figure 6. Consider the circuit shown above in which I(t)=7u(t) Amps. Remember that u(t) is the unit step function: u(t)={0,if t<0 and 1, if t≥0 In the circuit, L=3H, R1=14Ω, R2=10Ω, and R3=6Ω. Also note that before the step there is no energy in the system so the inductor current for t<0 will be zero. (b) What is the value of iL(t) at t=600.0ms (in Amps)? We can look at the same circuit topology but replace the inductor with a capacitor seen in Figure 7. We also change the current function, such that I(t)=7u(−t) Amps.
