how to graph this function rule? y = |x| + 3

the graph of an absolute value is a 'V' and it going to be up +3 places on the y-axis

Hello @tlksoftball3 and Welcome to OpenStudy! :) |dw:1417996338270:dw|then y = |x| + 3 would look like that, but just shifted three units up you can plug in points to figure out how to graph it like when x = 1, what would y = ? y = |1| + 3 = 4 so you can then plot the point (1, 4) then you would continue plotting other points ^_^ although be careful with the absolute values for example if you try plugging in x = -3 then y = |-3| + 3 = 3 + 3 = 6 so that would be point (-3, 6) [Not (-3, 0)] I hope this helped and that you might come back to see this @tlksoftball3 Good Luck! :D
