What is a significant difference between the Jamestown and Plymouth colonies? A - One colony included hardworking families while the other had too many gentlemen. B - One colony was a miserable failure while the other was a huge success. C - One colony had mostly Puritans while the other had mostly conformist Protestants. D - One colony survived on Indian labor while the other depended on the colonists' labor. E - One colony became a royal colony while the other maintained its chartered status. I feel that the answer to this could be A or B, but I'm not sure...
Let me see...
I know that Plymouth did better than Jamestown, so B could be it, but the option just feels too no-brainer, yknow? I questioned D, but I don't think that Jamestown made the Indian's work, did they? I thought they were just on unpleasant terms, while Plymouth lived in peace with the Native Americans.
(I'm doing to questions at once, so I'm going to look more carefully now.) In the meanwhile, I believe that you're right, one did much better than the other. However, neither used Indian labor.
Okay, I didn't think either used NA labor. I do remember Plymouth having more adversity and being able to get more done and succeed more because of it. Which again leads me to A or B...
Let me review the other choices for a second. (Oh, and by the way, I look and we can rule out C. And both were technically royal (Well, Virginia was made royal), so far as I remember.) I'm leaning towards A, but I have to look up the populations of Plymouth.
Oh yeah, C, I forgot to say can be ruled out, and D. And E too then? B just seems too open, which is weird cos this class always gives me trickish questions. Also, I don't think Jamestown failed MISERABLY, just didn't succeed nearly as well as Plymouth.
Yep. All three are gone. And, I looked. Jamestown was filled with men, Plymouth was a mixed group. So, A
