OpenStudy (confluxepic):

The setting of an uninhabited island made the boys unhappy and upset because there was no one else to communicate with.

does not affect the way they behave makes them behave in a more civilized manner than they normally would makes them less socially polite and more adapted to survive in the wild inspires them to depend heavily on modern technology and inventions

When he first finds the conch, Piggy explains that he once saw one on a person's wall in England and that it is "ever so valuable." This association and the fact that the boys use the conch to call a meeting immediately establish the conch as a symbol of (Points : 3) the threats to their survival. civilization and authority. the violence of the strong. wealth and prestige.

I have read and are currently reading this book as well. The boy's behaviors are civil and tactile, they start too develop rules, as in chapter three "Huts on the beach" they say lots of rules. They establish rules, build shelter and try too hunt for food and water. but as they are stranded more on the island they become more savage and free bound as opposed too civil nature. They start too develop animal like sense rather than human senses. So @confluxepic is correct :)

the conch represents civilization and authority. Whoever is hold the conch has the right to speak or give command, Ralph would not let the conch out of his sight then.
