Can someone go over the narrative structures (ex: exposition, rising action, etc...) with me? I already know them but I just want to make sure I'm right. Btw: This is not for a grade this is just for me to make sure I write my story correctly. Will give medal.

I can help some, do you have any specific questions?

OpenStudy (geneticrockhopper247):

Exposition: This is the very beginning of the story. Your primary information about the characters is given (name, age, and any other pertinent information). You also give some information about the setting and the tension causing the overall conflict of the story. Rising Action: Where we really start to get into the conflict of your story. This could be, perhaps, the beginning of a quest or a journey. The rising action keeps building up the action until the climax (crisis) Crisis (normally called climax, but I think that Crisis is more appropriate): This is the point in the novel where action must be taken. Something has gotta give so that the plot can move forward. Falling Action: Once the decision is made, the characters must deal with the fallout of the decision. The action can still be continuing here. Resolution: The story wraps up here. Loose ends are tied up and the overall conflict of the story is resolved. The beautiful thing about writing is that it is very flexible. You don't simply have to stick to the plot model outlined above. You can make your plot take as many twists and turns as you want (called subplots, these fun little things can have a whole other plot model all to themselves). But have fun with it. Writing can truly be a joy, not a burden.
