which of the following functions illustrates a change in amplitude? A.y=1 + sinx B.y=-2-cos(x-pi) C.y=tan2x D.y=-2cos6x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what's the amplitude of each?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A is 1 B is -2 C is 2 D.is 6?? I don't know how to find the amplitude :/ @pgpilot326

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y=Acos(t) +k A is the amplitude. cos has a range of -1 to 1. multiplying it by a constant makes it range over a larger or smaller values (depending if |A| > 1 or 0 < |A| < 1, resp.)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in A, the multiplier on the sin part is 1. Same for b and c, at least the absolute value of the multiplier. for D what is the multiplier of cos?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-2 right? sorry I suck at trig lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

keep telling yourslef that and you will.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2 is the multiplier of cos for D right? :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2 is the amplitude dude

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It has to be D then since the amplitude of B is 1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

d dude

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's what I said the answer is D
