@texaschic101

OpenStudy (danjs):

multiply the first equation by -2

OpenStudy (danjs):

-6x - 4y = -23 6x - 2y = 2 add the two equations 0x +(-6y) = -21

OpenStudy (danjs):

so y = 21/6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it B

OpenStudy (danjs):

use that y = 21/6 = 3.5 in one of the two equations to find x

OpenStudy (danjs):

lol who cares what the answer is, u understand how to do the type of problem?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

kinda

OpenStudy (danjs):

elimination means when you add the equations together like i did above, one of the variables will cancel, like the x's did

OpenStudy (danjs):

in this case multiplying the first equation by -2 gave you a -6x the second equation had a +6x so when you add the equations you have -6x+6x = 0 and you are left with only y to solve for
