Write the equation of the line that is parallel to the line y = -3x + 12 and passes through the point (-1, 6).
@ganeshie8
@Abhisar @eliassaab
@Ednac
Well how do we make a parallel line? do you know?
we must take the same slope so the first part of the equation is y=-3x+c
so plug in the point and solve for c
http://www.purplemath.com/modules/strtlneq.htm maybe you need to start at the beginning--but it seems Ednac is walking you though it
@adamaero he probably just wants the straight up answer
@Ednac no i want to know how to solve it
im usually pretty good with math but when it comes to
grpa
comes to graphs i get confused
ok well then I walked you through it so do what i said and you'll be a okay :^)
(x,y)
thats the order so plug it in
y=-3x+3?
no right now all we have is y=-3x+c
we know the slope because it has to be the same
we have the point (-1, 6)
so i have to keep "y=3x+" as the beginning?
the only thing im missing is the y-intercept correct?
y=-3x+**
yes correct
you can solve for the y intercept by plugging in the points to the equation and what did you get?
