a drawer contains 9 white paper clips, 5 green paper clips, and 6 red paper clips. One paper clip is selected at random. What is the probability that the paper clip is white, givin that it is not red?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

9/14 If its a k12 question this is the correct answer

OpenStudy (perl):

P( white | red ) = P( white and red ) / P ( red)

OpenStudy (perl):

an easier way to do this you are given that the paper clip is not red, there are 14 non red paper clips , so that will be your new 'sample space' and you want probability of picking white, so 9/14
