Which sets of numbers are closed under division? Choose all answers that are correct. A. rational numbers B. integers C. {–1, 0, 1} D. whole numbers

@Michele_Laino

OpenStudy (anonymous):

B A and D?

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

B no, because division between two integer numbers not Always is an integer number. I think your answer is rational numbers without zero.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so just A and D @Michele_Laino

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or just A?

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

I think D no, because division between Whole number not Always is a Whole number, for example 3:5 is not a Whole number even if 3 and 5 are so

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a and c?

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

I think C no, because 1:0=+infinity, which infinity doesn't belong to the set {-1,0,1}

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a? xD

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

I think is the only possible answer, even if we have to esclude number zero

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

oops exclude...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4/16 is not a whole number.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

?????"

OpenStudy (michele_laino):

@surjithayer you are right! It is a rational number!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

providing c != 0, if you have a/b divided by c/d, you get ad/bc. I think answer (a) is your only choice.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

;-)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

only choice is A
