OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohhh okay now i get it so you just multiply 4 and 5 then put period then 1 ?

OpenStudy (nicholausblackmon):

divide the numerator by the denominator

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohh okay thank you !!

OpenStudy (nicholausblackmon):

what?

OpenStudy (nicholausblackmon):

first off. 4 and 1/5 isnt a mixed number

OpenStudy (nicholausblackmon):

this is 4 and 1/5 as a mixed number 21/5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i know its not but thats what it says :/

OpenStudy (nicholausblackmon):

4 and 1/5 be itself is a whole number

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it says to write the mixed numbers as a decimal

OpenStudy (nicholausblackmon):

then write it as a mixed number form then as a decimal form

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

there is 2 ways to do this....turn your mixed fraction into an improper fraction... 4 1/5 = 21/5....now just divide and you get 4.2 OR set your whole number aside for now and just deal with your fraction 1/5...now divide and 1/5 becomes 0.2....add that to your whole number 4 and you get 4.2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay thank you i get it now

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you !! @texaschic101

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

no problem :)
