-squareroot 133, -83/7, 11 5/10, -11.6 the 6 is repeating put in order from least to greatest

@Jamal5337

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Alright, so this one will be a bit trickier, with the squareroot, since 133 isn't a perfect square.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Perfect squares are all numbers that can be multiplied by itself to equal it's square root, like 5 times 5, 6 times 6, 7 times 7, etc etc

OpenStudy (anonymous):

even 0 times 0 is a perfect square, since 0 equals it's square root

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The easiest way to tackle square roots is to find which multiples is it between.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

12 times 12 is equal to 144, and 11 times 11 is equal to 121.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the square root of 133 is between 11 and twelve.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Let's leave it at there for now and see if we have any numbers around 11 and 12.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so, 11 5/10 is equal to 11 and a half since 5/10=1/2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So that would be 11.5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Just to be safe, to see if 11.5 equals the square root of 133, lets multiply 11.5 by itself if we got 133.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

11.5 times 11.5 is equal to 132.25, so we got lucky here.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the square root of 132.25 is less than the square root of 133.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So, in order from least to greatest, it would be 11 5/10, then the square root of 133

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Next, lets move on to the negatives, -83/7 and -11.6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Remember that the further down you go past 0, the smaller the number is.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-83/7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I personally like to ignore the negative sign until the end of the equation. So I don't get confused.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The closest we can get without going over 83 is 7 times 11.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The end result would be 11.8. I tried drawing the math behind it, but I'm not the best drawer to be honest.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Don't forget about the negative sign in the start, so it would be -11.8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The last one was -11.6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-11.6<-11.8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So the end result would be -11.6, -83/7. the square root of 11 5/10, square root of 133,

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Any questions?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The 11 5/10 is not squareroot

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh, sorry about that. It's still the right order, however.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Since the square root of 132.25 (which is 11.5 times 11.5) is less than the square root of 133
