Let sin A = 12/13 with 90º≤A≤180º and tan B = -4/3 with 270º≤B≤360º. Find tan (A - B).
Use the sum/difference formula for tan a-b and for tan b plug in what you have but for tan b plug in the values of sin you have but have them be over cos because tan =sin/cos and then just solve from there like simplify
can you please help me with mine?
I tried doing the problem but I dnt know what I'm doing wrong.
what topic/lesson is your question ? @elizabete
did you do the sin over cos and plug it into the tan(a-b) formula? and same as this its the quesiton below
Maybe, how do you start the problem out? I'm struggling with identities, not understanding it very well.
so the formula is tan(a-b)=(tan a - tan b)/ (1+ tan a tan b) so since tan b is given you just plug that straight in but adjust it based on the angle and then for tan a you take what is given and write it over cos because if you know the sin you can make a triangle figure out the third side and from that get cosine and then just divide the sin over cos to get tan a
